This book is a comprehensive summary of numerous studies carried out for several decades at the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI). In fact it is an edited translation of the AARI report on the dangers posed by highly unusual and often dramatic deterioration in local ice conditions that can create conditions for severe accidents for vessels operating in the Arctic seas.
